Common Weight Loss Obstacles and How to Overcome Them
Procrastination is real! Have you ever found yourself completely avoiding a situation because it was a difficult hurdle to jump over? Everyone experiences challenges that are specific to their individual weight loss journey. The good news is you can work towards overcoming them.
I will identify a commonly overlooked obstacles to successful weight loss and a practical solutions to overcome them.
“The First Step to Overcome Obstacles that Stand in the Way of Weight Loss”
Weight loss is an obstacle many of my clients struggle with for years.
However, before reaching out to me many HAVE:
- Tried diet after diet – many losing weight in the short-term, but gained it all back and more
- Drank smoothie after smoothie – many don’t want to see another smoothie
- Cut out their favorite foods – many able to sustain for a few days or a week then the cravings take over
- Felt tired day after day – many push through the fatigue feeling that it’s a normal phase of weight loss
The first step in attacking these obstacles is to identify your “specific struggle”.
Generally, this is repeatable. Meaning you encounter this obstacle day after day. Night after Night. The challenge is we start operating on “Auto Pilot” after a while and don’t even recognize “the problem” as a problem anymore. It becomes routine… This is exactly what happened to me!
This makes it even more difficult to conquer, BUT NOT impossible! (If you want it bad enough and keep negative thoughts out your head)
Mind control is real also! You must behave more intentionally in “gaining your control back”

One important take Away from today’s training is to soul search and identify biggest obstacle. The first step in gaining back control is knowing what is holding you back in the first place!
This is huge in building healthy habits that last for LIFE! For me, it started as stress eating -> evolved to procrastination eating (just trying to avoid ALL I had to accomplish and feeling like I was not going to make it) -> led to emotional eating -> that quickly turned to a habitual habit! The lines were blurred all the way across the board! Being transparent, Dietitians are human too and we struggle also

- Acknowledge that getting help is a part of life and does not mean your attempts were meaningless
- Seek support from an expert to help ‘tweek’ what you’re currently doing and start seeing the results you desire
- With support comes an ‘accountability partner’ to help keep you motivated to reach the longer term goal

The storms of life come and go. When the storm is present, it IS difficult to focus on weight loss. HOWEVER, you can maintain your efforts to-date and avoid gaining weight.
The real key is to adopt a healthy lifestyle that suits your individual needs and that you can maintain for life.
