October is right around the corner. Halloween unofficially begins the holiday season. Before you know it, many will start thinking of New Year’s Resolutions, yet again. Majority of US set “goals” for the New Year. What is different is some call the goals “New Year’s Resolutions”, and some people don’t. Either case, the result is the same – we are trying to set a new purpose (or chapter) for ourselves going the new year. My goal is to take ONE goal OFF your list, by giving you sure-fire tips on how to best eat for weight loss.

Surprising Weight Loss Statistics and How to Eat

To my surprise, many of my clients had some ambivalence (doubt) about losing weight initially. Despite, the fact they really wanted to lose the extra weight. Once they opened up and shared why, it made perfect sense.

Here are a few reasons why people have doubts about losing weight:

  1. Fear of the attention from looking attractive again
  2. Spouse not fully on board
  3. Anxiety about keeping the weight off long term

This empowered me to not only put on my ‘coaching‘ hat, but also my ‘player-coach‘ hat. I’m in this game just like you. I live with the pressure of keeping my own weight loss off and maintaining. I  have my moments where ‘I fall short and over indulge’.

Self-Assessment Question

What do you think is holding you back from taking the steps, you need to take to succeed once and for all?

Me personally – my trigger started as sheer overwhelm…Over time, fear played a role, which leads to feeling unmotivated.    At this point the lines were all blurred, and it just became habitual for me to “Stress Eat” as a means of procrastination…

Not a good combination, I will admit. As you see, being a Dietitian does not exempt me from having the same struggles related to food.

Two important questions

This leads me to two important questions that I’d like to ask you…

  1. What were your weight loss and health goals back in January?
  2. Do you remember those resolutions you set for yourself to get healthier, to lose the same XX pounds you’ve been trying to lose year after year?
